Just over a year after the release of the Stifel & Sons edition, AVANT returns with a brand-new special issue: The Voices Behind Vintage Clothing. But this isn’t your average magazine—it’s a curated collection of intimate interviews.

In this edition, more than 50 collectors, dealers, historians, and lifelong lovers of vintage open up about their connection to old garments—the stories woven into the fabric, the memories sewn into every seam, the thrill of discovering something rare, and the quiet strength of clothing that’s lived a life before ours.

Each interview offers a glimpse into a world where fashion becomes something deeper: a reflection of history, identity, resistance, artistry, and feeling.
From forgotten thrift stores to hidden archives, from rural corners of France to the alleys of Tokyo, these individuals reveal what makes vintage meaningful. How a worn chore coat can carry the weight of generations. How a pair of old boots might hold the imprint of someone else’s decade. How the past, when worn with care, can still speak to the present. And how the people who cherish these items have something to say, too.

Because at the heart of it all—it’s about people. The clothes are important, yes. But it’s us who give them life again. We are the storytellers. The guardians. The ones who carry it forward.
