The Red Wing Shoes 2949 Roughneck Moc Toe in Black Oil Slick is a timeless moccasin-style boot, handcrafted in Red Wing, Minnesota. Originally introduced in the 1950s for hunters and farmers, the 6-inch Moc Toe quickly became known for its durability in tough working conditions and harsh weather. The term Moc Toe comes from “moccasin,” a Native Algonquian word describing the signature U-shaped stitching on the toe.
The Roughneck 2949 is a modern variation of Red Wing’s most iconic boot, the 875. It’s built with a sturdy black Vibram TC4 Lug sole, offering excellent traction, stability, and all-day comfort. The boots are finished with original black-and-brown round Taslan laces.
